Food for thought in Issue 2 of Seven Dials Magazine where we’re excited to read an article by ‘London Food Boy’ (@LondonFoodBoy) on ‘A Foodie’s Guide to Seven Dials’. Our team enjoyed a hungry adventure out and about in Central London capturing content and reviewing some delicious restaurants.

Last week, I embarked on a foodie-themed Seven Dials adventure. Camera at the ready and in the mood for some great food, I arrived at the Sundial Pillar ready for the first restaurant.

Flesh and Buns

‘The Ultimate Japanese Drinking Food’ – confirmed. I kickstarted my Flesh and Buns experience chowing down on their oh-so-crispy Korean Fried Wings in their spicy, sour sauce. Mmm! Drinks flowed and sushi followed, my favourite being the Salmon Avocado Roll: fresh, clean and crisp, thanks to the yummy yuzu mayo. Restaurant cool, tables communal. If you’re after a buzzy bite with a bunch of mates, I’d recommend.

Winners of AA’s London Restaurant of the Year and for good reason, Tredwells is something special. Chef Patron, Chantelle Nicholson created the award-winning menu and inspired the cocktails, lending the venue to be known as one of the best drink ‘spots’ in Seven Dials. At Tredwells, fine food is served in a cosy setting – I’d be lying if I said I’d not had several daydreams about the Truffled Macaroni Cheese. This dish, rich, creamy and..cheesy (!) is foodie heaven on a plate. What’s more, their Creedy Carver duck breast is something of a sensation – melt in your mouth and almost, just almost too pretty to eat. Book your table and thank me later 😉

Monmouth Kitchen

I ‘revelled in relaxed luxury’ at the reputable Monmouth Kitchen. Culinary cultures combined, I enjoyed a ‘delicioso’ selection of Italian small plates followed by a sampling of contemporary Peruvian dishes. Perfect pan-fried salmon with Calabrian Chilli Salsa was followed by Smoked Lamb Cutlets with red anticucho – served on a hot lava stone making the signature dish quite unforgettable. The food, excellent. The service, even better. I was impressed by the high attention to detail executed in a cool, calm manner.

My visit concluded with a cocktail – their Cacao Rum Old Fashioned. Eight year old El Dorado meets 12 year old Rum infused with Peruvian cacao and Amaro Di Angostura – a truly special sip.

Casanova & Daughters

Located in the colourful Neal’s Yard, Casanova & Daughters is a Sicilian deli and wine bar priding themselves on offering authentic Italian produce. Here, I enjoyed a glass of crisp white alongside Sicilian sides – roasted almonds with extra-virgin olive oil, salt and Tuna buzzonaglia (served with rocket, capers and lemon juice). Grab a friend, order a bottle and selection of dishes to share. Buon Appetito!

Chick ‘n’ Sours

An adventure Seven Dials-style wouldn’t be complete without flocking (!) to Chick ‘n’ Sours for a crispy bite! The restaurant, with a second location in Haggerston boasts ‘Next Level, Free Range Fried Chicken & Sour Cocktails’ and they didn’t disappoint. Here, I got my hands on (and teeth into!) ‘The General’ burger – fried thigh, buttermilk & herb mayo, cheese, lettuce & those all important pickles. Clucking delicious, if you ask me! The atmosphere – hip, cool and cocktail friendly 😉
